Michael Mullaney, Liberal Democrat parliamentary spokesman for Hinckley and Bosworth, is urging the government to act as prices at the pump go ever higher. Michael Mullaney said "It is costing some people here in Hinckley and Bosworth £60 or £70 pounds to fill their car with petrol. This is a big slice of the average person's income. Many people are struggling to find the money to fill up their cars. "I have written to the Chancellor George Osbourne urging him to bring in a fuel duty stabiliser to keep fuel prices in check. "I am glad that other Liberal Democrats in Parliament have been pressing for the introduction of a fuel price stabiliser. Bringing in the fuel price stabiliser will ensure an automatic freeze on fuel duty increases. "I've also asked Mr Osborne if he will bring in a reduction in duty to match any increases in VAT revenues from higher pump prices."
